I’ve taken the reluctant decision to close The Media Bookshop due to lack of support from the company that ran the site on our behalf.
The Media Bookshop was launched primarly as a extra service for our community of journalists, PR professionals and marketing specialists. Soon after launching the site we found that some customers using the popular Firefox browser, which is used by around 30 per cent of our audience, were unable to complete their transactions on The Media Bookshop.
We alerted this issue to the book wholesaler that ran the site and fulfilled orders on our behalf but after 18 months no progress had be made to resolve the issue and the company was unable to say when it would be sorted. Also, little had been done to develop the site in general during this time.
We felt this reflected badly not only on The Media Bookshop but on our services as a whole, thefore closing the site down seemed the best thing to do.
I’m very sorry to withdraw a service which many found useful but being a staunch believer in customer service I could not continue to offer a customer experience that was fundametally flawed.
Perhaps we will re-launch The Media Bookshop in the future if we are able to find a partner that can sustain a standard of service I would be proud of.
In the meantime we’ll leave The Media Book Club site live so that people may access the content.
